Health & Care Resources > Nutritional Care Nutrition is an important part of maintaining and enhancing an active, independent life - especially for older adults. At The Gardens of Peterborough, good meals also mean good nutrition. Upon your arrival at The Gardens,
your individual nutritional needs are assessed and a care plan is
developed to best meet your requirements.
Wellness and Good Nutrition To ensure wellness and maintain maximum independence, we make sure that meals are well balanced and in accordance with "Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating".
The Gardens of Peterborough
understands that meal times should be a pleasurable experience and
an opportunity for social interaction. (Please visit our Dining section to find out more.) In addition to personal tastes and desires, individual meal plans take into account such factors as potential interactions between medications and some foods and beverages. Also, allergy awareness is important to you—and it is important to us. The Gardens' staff is trained to know what foods and ingredients contain common allergens so that we can better protect you! Each Dining Room attendant will know both your specific meal plan and special tastes in order to make your dining experience enjoyable—and safe. Special Needs, Special Diets At The Gardens, special therapeutic diets are provided in a manner to suit your tastes and needs. This may include diabetic or other specialty diets such as dysphasia meal plans and other texture changes. Our qualified chefs ensure that such foods as roast beef with gravy, Yorkshire pudding and roasted vegetables are attractively presented for your specific needs. Our rotating menus have been chosen for their variety and nutritional value while still providing for special diets. Delicious choices are available such as low sodium soups, diabetic desserts and lean cuts of meat. Satisfying good nutrition doesn't mean sacrificing good taste and a pleasurable dining experience. |
